The Listening Field is a place where I go to when I am seeking inspiration, wanting to feel something, or searching for a lesson in writer's craft. My advice when you go to The Listening Field is to get cozy and listen.
SmallStack is a wonderful space created for writers (like me) who are still learning and growing their own spaces within the larger Substack community. Robin & Robin & Co are building something pretty special, and I'm so elated to be apart of their community!
Emma Del Rey provides a loving and supportive home for mothers to air their grievances and celebrate their victories. If you're searching for a place that "gets" moms and their journeys, this is it.
If you want real, unfiltered, and funny personal essays about motherhood, then Charlotte's newsletter is for you. Her words always manage to make me laugh AND cry. She's a delight and a "real one" in the Substack moms community. I highly recommend her newsletter, Baby Brain!
I love Danusia's newsletter so much! The content that she delivers to the Substack community is top-notch and helps creatives-who-are-parents see and be seen by other creatives-who-are-parents. What a gift! I highly recommend Parents Who Think!
Ariane's lovely corner of Substack feeds me both as a writer and as a mother. It's her newsletter that I'm always eager to read because I know that she will write something that resonates with me and/or sheds new light on a relatable topic. She also just started offering beta reading to paid subscribers. What an incredible offering for writers of all levels! I highly recommend --esque!
Just when I think that she can't possibly do it again, she does it. Sparker presents thoughtful, pragmatic short essays about American life and work. Her recommendations nestled within each newsletter are also an added bonus to her words; I always feel like I'm one of the cool kids after reading Read While Burning. Highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoy reading Tina's dispatches from the road via Letters From Turkey Town. Her words are always well-chosen, and you can bet that by the end of her essays, you will have learned something new about life. In addition, Tina is a consistently generous, kind, and compassionate human on Substack. I highly recommend her newsletter!
Chloe's newsletter is the breadcrumbs thrown to feed the birds, and we are the birds who launch ourselves, flocking and feasting on the happy meal. Her words are enough to make anyone die happy because they'd had read something with such unequivocal precision, beauty, and truth. Chloe is a true wonder of the Substack world; I highly recommend Death & Birds!
What a sheer joy it is to have found Evelyn Skye's bright home on Substack! I thoroughly enjoy her podcast as well as her posts, and I always leave feeling eager to create, inspired, and generally happier. If you need a mood boost, subscribe!
If you're an unpublished writer looking to publish, The Shit No One Tells You About Writing is REQUIRED reading (and listening)! I thoroughly enjoy their podcast and find myself always learning new things through their free content. What are you waiting for? Subscribe NOW!
If you haven't been on Substack long, this wonderful and welcoming writer's space is where you should join immediately. If you've already been on Substack, then what are you waiting for? I know I can count on Robin's newsletter to provide that inspirational or motivational boost that I need as a writer--as a human being. Not to mention, she's always a kind, compassionate, and generous person to interact with via Notes or Comments. A real Substack gem! I highly recommend Creative Letters.
